Vaginal Itchiness – Yin Yang

Diagnosis of Vaginal Itchiness

Genital area has itchiness which is difficult to relieve, this may be complicated w/ leukorrhea and anal itch.

Etiology (causes) of Vaginal Itchiness:

1. Damp/Heat – stagnation in low Jiao, (various infections) Heat Wind

2. LR Kidney Yin - Yin produces dryness Heat Wind

3. LR Heart stagnation Fire – follows Liver Jing to genitals Heat Wind

Chinese Medicine Differentiation and Treatment

Damp/Heat itch, leukorrhea that is yellow thick and smelly, red vulva with fluid covering it. Plus – Damp/Heat symptoms (see Appendix 1)

Principle of Treatment: – clear Heat, induce diuresis, destroy parasites, relieve itch

Acupuncture points – sedate Ren, foot Jueyin, *Ren 3 (diuresis, Liver 2, 8 (heat), Heart 8 (fire), Pericardium 5 (mental factors), Spleen 9 (diuresis) - digestion- Ren 12, Bladder 20, Stomach 36

Herbal Medicine Formula: Bei Xie Fen Qing Yin or Long Dan Xie Gan Tang

Toxic Damp (parasites) bacterial, fungal, viral infection, with foul yellow leukorrhea

Principle of Treatment: clear Damp/Heat, eliminate parasites, relieve itch

Acupuncture points – Ren, foot Jueyin, Ren 2 and Bladder 32 and Liver 5, Spleen 9 and Heart 8 - frequent urination- Large Intestine 4, Spleen 6

LR Kidney Yin dry and burning with itchiness, may have leukorrhea w/o odour, may also be pinkish if Heat present. Plus – Liver Kidney Yin symptoms (see Appendix 1)

Principle of Treatment: – nourish Liver Kidney Yin, clear Fire

Acupuncture points – Ren, foot Shaoyin, Kidney 3 and Bladder 23 and Spleen 6, Ren 3 and Bladder 18, Ren 1

Herbal Medicine Formula: Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan

LR Heart Fire itch, emotional neurosis, more itch at night, nothing visual upon examination. Plus – Liver Heart Fire symptoms (see Appendix 1)

Principle of Treatment: – clear Liver Heart Fire

Herbal Medicine Formula: - Dan Zhi Xiao Yao San (more LR), Jia Wei Gui Pi Tang (more HT)

Ear Acupuncture- Shenmen, external reproductive organs, adrenal, endocrine, LR, SP, Kidney injection- vit B12 @ Bladder 32, Spleen 6, 0.2-0.3ml
