Pre-Auricular Fistula (anterior)

During fetal development a pre-auricular fistula may form with a one sided area of the anterior of the ear does not form properly leaving an open hole.

There may be a white mucus discharge and may get infected giving rise to pain, swelling and a yellow purulent discharge.
