The functions of this TCM formula are to warm the yang Qi and promote urination. This chinese medicine formula is best suited for conditions where there is externally contracted pathogens with pre-existing kidney yang or spleen yang deficiency giving rise to retention of fluids.

abdominal pain, aggravated by cold, urinary difficulty, aching and heaviness in the extremities, general edema, loose stools, dizziness, heaviness in the head (foggy), palpitations, coughing, vomiting

Tongue – pale, swollen, teeth marks, (possibly dark body)

Pulse – forceless, thin, submerged

Medicinal Ingredients of Zhen Wu Tang

Fu Zi (Radix Lateralis Aconiti Carmichaeli, Szechuan Aconite Root, Aconite) - 9g.

-tonify kidney yang, promotes kidney transforming functions

Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractyloids Macrocephaelae, Atractylodes White Rhizome) - 6g.

-tonify spleen, promotes urination

Fu Ling (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos, China Root, Poria, Hoelen) - 9g.

-tonify spleen, promote urination, drains dampness

Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Officinalis Recens, Fresh Ginger Rhizome) - 9g.

-warms and dispels external pathogens, aids removal of dampness

Bai ShaoYao (Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae, White Peony Root, Peony) - 9g.

-tonify and nourish yin, alleviate pain

Preparation Instructions of Zhen Wu Tang

This Chinese Medicine herbal formula should be decocted in eight cups of water and boiled down till three cups remain. This leaves three doses of one cup each.

Additional Points on Zhen Wu Tang

Water source is yin and without yang Qi is unable to move creating fluid stagnation. This formula is able to promote fluid circulation by promoting and tonifying yang Qi. This alternative medicine formula has been able to treat such diseases as chronic nephritis, rheumatic valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, chronic hepatic disorders, edema, ascites, chronic enteritis, intestinal tuberculosis, chronic diarrhea, meniere’s disease, primary hypertension, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis and chronic bronchitis when the appropriate symptoms have presented themselves in the patient.
