Main Actions for Yang He Tang

The functions of this TCM herbal formula are to warm the yang, tonify blood and expel cold while unblocking stagnation.  This chinese medicine formula is best suited in conditions of yin type localized swellings (yin ju).  Yang He Tang is able to treat disorders in the flesh and muscles (boils) as well as joint disorders (cranes knee wind (he Xi Feng) swollen painful joints). 

Indications and Symptoms for Yang He Tang

localized painful swellings, swellings with no heads which blend into surrounding tissues, swellings do not affect the texture or color of the skin, patient has no thirst

Tongue – pale

Pulse – submerged, thin, forceless

Medicinal Ingredients of Yang He Tang

Shu Di Huang  (Rehmanniae Glutinosae Conquitae, Rehmannia (cooked) - 30g.

-tonify blood

Lu Jiao Jiao   (Gelatinum Cornu Cervi, Glue from mature deer antlers) - 9g.

-tonify blood, tonify yang Qi, expel cold from ying level, unblocks stagnation

Rou Gui   (Cortex Cinnamomi Cassiae, Cinnamon Bark) - 3g.

-tonify yang Qi, expel cold from ying level, unblocks stagnation

Pao Jiang   (Quick fried Rhizome Zingiberis Officinalis) - 1.5g.

-tonify yang Qi, expel cold from ying level, unblocks stagnation

Bai Jie Zi   (Semen Sinapis Albae, White Mustard Seed) - 6g.

-expels phlegm lodged beneath skin

Ma Huang   (Herba Ephedrae, Ephedra Stem, Ma-huang) - 1.5g.

-opens pores, pushes out cold

Gan Cao   (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis, Licorice Root) - 3g.

-harmonizes all ingredients within formula. 

Preparation Instructions of Yang He Tang

When this natural medicine herbal formula is prepared Lung Jiao Shuang is sometimes substituted for Lung Jiao Jiao and Rou Gui is sometimes substituted with Gui Zhi. 

Additional Points on Yang He Tang
