This TCM herbal formulas function is to gently release exterior cool dryness, regulate lung Qi and transform stagnated fluids.  This chinese medicine formula is best suited for conditions where there is externally contracted cool dryness interfering with functions of the lungs (descending and ascending).

Zi Su Ye   (Folium Perillae Frutescentis, Perilla Leaf) - 6g.

-release exterior cold, induce sweat

Qian Hu   (Radix Peucedani, Hogfennel Root, Peucedanum) - 6g.

-direct Qi downward, release exterior

Xing Ren   (Semen Pruni Armeniacae, Apricot Seed or Kernel) - 6g.

-regulates lung Qi, stops cough,

Jie Geng   (Radix Platycodi Grandiflori, Balloon Flower root, Platycodon) - 6g.

-promotes lung Qi descending function, stop cough

Zhi Ke   (Fructus Citri Aurantii, Bitter Orange Fruit, Ripe Fruit) - 6g.

-promotes Qi movement, stop cough, regulates Qi

Chen Pi   (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Tangerine Peel, Citrus) - 6g.

A modification of this chinese medicine formula is used to treat wind cold disorders with accompanying deficiency is Shen Su Yin (Ginseng and Perilla Leaf Decoction). 

This formula has been successfully used to treat such diseases as acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis and emphysema when the appropriate symptoms are present.
