Medicinal Ingredients of Xi Jiao Di Huang Tang

Xi Jiao  (Cornu Rhinoceri, Rhinoceros Horn) - 3g.

-clears heart fire, cools blood, stops toxic fire (Xi Jiao replaced with Shui Niu Jiao)

Sheng Di Huang  (Radix Rehmanniae Glutinosae, Chinese Foxglove Root, Rehmannia) - 24g.

-cools blood, stops bleeding, nourishes yin, clears heat

Chi Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Rubrae, Red Peony Root) - 9g.

-cool blood, drain heat, invigorate blood

Mu Dan Pi  (Cortex Moutan Radicis, Cortex of Peony Root, Moutan) - 6g.

-cool blood, drain heat, invigorate blood

Preparation Instructions of Xi Jiao Di Huang Tang

This TCM herbal formula should be coarsely ground and decocted for a long period of time.  Xi Jiao is usually replaced with Shui Niu Jiao (Cornu Bubali, Water Buffalo Horn).
