Indications and Symptoms for Tai Yuan Yin

Threatened miscarriage during the 1st trimester of pregnancy, scanty vaginal bleeding, pale dilute blood, tiredness, weariness, palpitations, pale complexion

Tongue – pale

Pulse – fine, weak, empty

Medicinal Ingredients of Tai Yuan Yin

Ren Shen  (Radix Ginseng, Ginseng Root) 9g.

-tonify Qi, prevents downward movement of the fetus

Dang Gui   (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Chinese Angelica Root, tang-kuei) 6g.

- moves blood

Shu Di Huang   (Rehmanniae Glutinosae Conquitae, Cooked Rehmannia) 6g.

-nourish blood

Bai ShaoYao   (Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae, White Peony Root, Peony) 6g.

-nourish blood

Bai Zhu   (Rhizoma Atractyloids Macrocephaelae, White Atractylodes Rhizome) 6g.

-tonify Qi, prevents downward movement of the fetus, calms fetus

Chen Pi   (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Tangerine Peel, Citrus) 3g.

-elliminates dampness, regulates Qi in the middle jiao

Du Zhong   (Cortex Eucommiae Ulmoidis, Eucommia Bark) 6g.

-tonify kidneys, calms fetus

Zhi Gan Cao   (Radix Glycyrrhizae Uralensis, Licorice Root ) 3g.

Additional Points on Tai Yuan Yin

Dang Gui is often eliminated by today’s practitioners due to it’s blood invigorating actions.  Often Huang Qi and E Jiao are added to this formula for their raising of Qi action (Huang Qi) and nourishing and calming actions (E Jiao).
