Main Actions for Si Miao Wan

This herbal formula is used to clear heat and dry dampness.  The Formula is best suited for damp heat in the lower jiao with atrophy and emaciation of the lower extremities. 

Indications and Symptoms for Si Miao Wan

scanty, yellow urine, lower back pain, lower extremities pain, weakness or atrophy of lower extremities, red hot swollen painful joints (lower joints), thick yellow foul smelling vaginal discharge (leukorrhea), lower limb sores due to dampness, emaciation and atrophy of the lower extremities, weakness of the lower limbs, numbness in the feet with swelling pain.

Medicinal Ingredients of Si Miao Wan

Huang Bai   (Cortex Phellodendri, Amur Cork-tree Bark, Phellodendron) - 9-12g.

-drains damp heat in the lower jiao

Yi Yi Ren   (Semen Coicis Lachryma Jobi, Jobs Tears Seeds, Coix) - 240g.

-clears dampness, promotes urination, clears heat, strengthen spleen

Cang Zhu   (Rhizome Atractyloids, Atractylodes (black) Rhizome) - 6-9g.

-dries dampness

Niu Xi   (Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae, Achyranthes Root) - 120g.

-brings all herb functions downwards

Preparation Instructions of Si Miao Wan

This formula was traditionally taken as a powder in 6-9 gram doses 2-3 times daily but is usually prepared as a decoction in recent years.

This herbal formula is a modification of Er Miao San and San Miao Wan.
