Main Actions for Qin Jiao Bie Jia San

The functions of this chinese medicine formula are to the yin and blood and to clear heat in steaming bone disorder.  This herbal formula is best suited for lung heat consumption (Fei Lao or Feng Lao) due to wind heat attacking the lungs with an underlying yin deficiency constitution. 

Indications and Symptoms for Qin Jiao Bie Jia San

Night sweats, emaciation, red lips, red cheeks, sticky yellow sputum, possible blood streaked sputum, five center heat sensation (palms, soles, chest)

Tongue – yellow thin coat, red body

Pulse – faint, rapid

Medicinal Ingredients of Qin Jiao Bie Jia San

Chai Hu   (Radix Bupleuri, Hare’s Ear Root, Thorowax Root)  - 30g.

- alleviates lesser yang disorder

Zhi Bie Jia   (Honey Fried Carapax Amydae Sinensis, Chinese Soft Shelled Turtle Shell) - 30g.

-nourish yin, clears deficiency heat, anchors floating yang Qi

Di Gu Pi   (Cortex Lycii Radicis, Wolfberry Root Cortex, Lycium Bark) - 30g.

-clears lung deficiency fire

Qin Jiao   (Radix Gentianae Qinjiao, Gentiana Macrophylla Root, Chin-chiu) - 15g.

-clears deficient heat

Dang Gui   (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Chinese Angelica Root, Tang-kuei) - 15g.

-nourish blood, disperse swellings

Zhi Mu   (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae Asphodeloidis, Anemarrhena Rhizome) - 15g.

-clears lung fire, nourish yin and generates fluids

Preparation Instructions of Qin Jiao Bie Jia San

When preparing this herbal formula all ingredients should be ground into a fine powder and taken in 15 gram doses with five leaves of Qing Hao (Herba Artemisiae Annuae) and one piece of Wu Mei (Fructus Pruni Mume).
