The main functions of this TCM herbal formula are to tonify spleen Qi, hold Qi, nourish blood and stop bleeding. This traditional chinese medicine formula is best suited for excessive bleeding (heavy periods) and other types of bleeding where the spleen Qi is not able to hold the blood within it’s vessels.

Indications and Symptoms for Gu Ben Zhi Beng Tang

Flooding at the beginning of the period, stops and goes on with a trickle for a long time after period has ended, pale or watery menstrual blood, pale face, tiredness, slight dizziness, no appetite, loose stools

Tongue – pale, teeth marks

Pulse – weak

Medicinal Ingredients of Gu Ben Zhi Beng Tang

Huang Qi (Radix Astragali Membranaceus, Milk Vetch Root, Astragalus) 15g.

-tonify Qi, raise Qi upwards

Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng, Ginseng Root) 12g.

-tonify Qi, raise Qi upwards

Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractyloids Macrocephaelae, White Atractylodes Rhizome) 18g.

-tonify Qi, raise Qi upwards

Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Glutinosae Conquitae, Cooked Rehmannia) 9g.

-nourish blood, strengthen Qi

Dang Gui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Chinese Angelica Root, Tang-kuei) 6g.

-nourish blood, strengthen Qi, calms blood

Pao Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Officinalis Recens, Fried Ginger Root) 6g.
