Hi all,
I recently came across the following research relating both female and male infertility to the herpes simplex virus. For the women, severe genital herpes(more than 7.5 a year) may be the reason of infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and IVF failures. For men the virus was linked to lower sperm counts and motility.
For me, who focuses primarily on dermatology and reproductive health either seperately or combined, I am always intrigued to find areas where Chinese herbal medicine can make a big difference. It becomes obvious that to effectively treat someones reproductive health problem, an understanding of how to clear up or reduce any inflammation created through HSV is crucial!
Please check out the research here:

Herbs for Herpes
Thanx Atisha, I checked out the research you found and it seems, at least the two I could identify, that Xia Ku Cao & Ding Xiang show anti-HSV activity. There were a couple others that were not common Chinese herbs (sumac & geum). I also have heard you using Ban Lan Gen and Long Dan Cao in treatment, could you expand on this please.
Also found some literature on the effectiveness of Zinc, Siberian Ginseng (Wu Jia Pi), and propolis. Any more help, dosing, or experience would be great.
