Sebboreic Dermititis

This skin disease, which can be very itchy, responds well to the use of many wind scattering herbs like: Fang Feng, Jing Jie, Chan Tui, Wei Ling Xian, ect.

The red erythema shows elements of blood heat, so using a sheng di and mu dan pi combo would be good.

TCM diagnosis?

What would the TCM diagnosis of this be?

Diagnosis

By just observation alone, I would say this client has a combination of dry wind and blood heat.
Dry wind: lots of dry flacky scale that looks like it easily sheds. I am geusing that this is also very itchy(possibleexcoriation in the middle of the glabella), which is another indicater of wind. Being on the top of the body, ie face, shows this is more lickely a wind disease.
Blood heat: The actual lesion is the orangey red backround macule, which indicates blood heat, although it doesn't look that deep.

Notice that there are no vesicles or exudate (fluid discharge), meaning that dampness is not that prominate with this case.

A sample formula for this would like:
Sheng Di Huang 24-30 Mu Dan Pi 9
Fang Feng 9 Wei Ling Xian 12
Jing Jie 9 Chan Tui 9
Niu Bang Zi 12 Ye Ju Hua 12
Gan Cao 6

We can see that the majority of the Fx is composed of wind scattering herbs.
