This second part addresses the seminal topics of communication and research methodologies. These two obstacles prove insurmountable when holistic and conventional professionals attempt to collaborate. Yet this need not be so. Clear communication by holitic TCM folks is the result 1) of taking the time to understand the training and conditioning of the conventional model and 2) getting absolutely clear about the metaphors used in creating the holistic reality of TCM. If one is clear, the rest is practice and the willingness to build that all important bridge to our conventional counterparts. Likewise, research of holistic TCM requires a fundamental grasp of the epistemology and mothodologies best suited to the holistic model. Not surprisingly, the preferred methodology for research is not the same for holism as it is for the conventional reductionist epistemology. This talk helps to open a more inclusive discussion of why this point is essential when speaking to MD's and hospital adminstrators.
