This particular case is for a 7 month old - my baby. She has developed a loud, dry hacking cough, no fever ( yet), mild runny nose. Her spirits are still good. This has all come up over the last two days. I am wanting to do food therapies and other modalities before trying herbals, however I am interested in any suggestions anyone has. I have been giving her pear in a cheese cloth bag - and she is just loving it. I am making sure she gets enough fluids ie: broth, breast milk and water. Anything lse would be greatly appreciated.

pediatric cough
Andrea,
here some options you can try, they have worked great for me on infants:
1. ear seeds, use a point locator to detect the lung/bronchi pts. put a seed or magnet on the point and press
2. She dan chuan bei ye is very effective for any types of cough, the liquid is a little sweet so babies tend to be ok with taking it.

Hello Andrea
have you tried any acupressure or tuina?
acupressure around st36, some Lu pts may be beneficial, BiTong?
TuiNa around sinus areas may help drain the mucus !
It's been 4 days since your post, children usually respond fast to treatment, How is your little one feeling now ?
Thank you for the suggestions. Yes i ended up doing some tui na on her back and round LU 1 and 2 as well as back of her neck and well her face didn t go so well - shes very squirmy. I used a cool humidifier in the bedroom and added some slippery elm powder to her pear sauce. The slippery elm was a hit. Her appetite improved and im sure its demulcent properties assisted in the productivity of her cough. The cough is now almost gone. So i suppose i did not resort to all of the TCM modalities available but she definatley enjoyed the tui na.
Thanks again for the suggestions
