What do you do when your patient CAN'T stand the taste of her herbs?? I have heard mine say it is like drinking the bottom of an old cigarette butt can! Ewww!
I would like to give her a viable option as she just paid $100 for these herbs!!

Have you considered "shot and a beer chaser". Depending on the formula, you might be able to concentrate the cooked formula (less water) and have the patient "shoot" the formula followed by a strong flavored drink that is formula appropriate. Suggestions might be orange, grapefruit or other fruit juice, coffee or even a beer or alcohol. Just make sure the chaser does not counter the formula.

I have some of my patients add a small amount of honey to their formulas which they find helps with the taste.
I generally suggest the "shot" type of style for most patients with the chaser (usually juice of some sort - ie OJ).
Most clients will get accustomed to the taste after a week or two. It's always the first few days which are the worst.

I think if someone is ready to do what it takes to reach their health goals, it doesn't matter what stands between them and the target. This patient is in a place of self-sabotage. If she won't take the herbals, she is not ready for your treatment. Treat her with just acu for a while to soothe her Liver Qi, then she may be more open to herbals later.
Just my thoughts.
