Patient has been going through tests at urologist for 3 months for zero sperm count. Normal hormone levels, normal testes with normal ultrasound results. He is scheduled for testicle biopsy.
I haven't had any experience with zero sperm count only abnormal perimeters.
I haven't started treating this patient yet & didn't want to give him an unrealistic hope if TCM wouldn't help.
Anyone else have clinical results with this scenario?

wait to see what happens here, if there is sperm being produced at least you know the sertoli cells are functioning. If they are not, it is unlikely that there is anything we can do. That being said, as you would be one of the last possibilities he would have, you could try to treat and see what happens, just make sure he knows that it is not optimistic. If the testis are making sperm, you should do what you can to ensure they are the best quality they can be and treat. Maybe it is as simple as a blockage and TESE will work well.
One last thing, I would recommend getting his sperm (if found) tested for DNA fragmentation, as if they only have a little sperm to work with, it would be great to know the chances of whether or not it will succeed in producing a healthy child, and reduce the chances of the wife having to endure a miscarriage.
I was just forwarded an interesting study on male infertility from Russia. It showed that asymptomatic (hidden pathogen?) herpes simplex virus in ejaculate in some way damages sperm parameters, thus decreasing fertility. As well, it showed that the men with this hidden herpes had worse sperm in winter, better in summer. Help me explain this via TCM !
