Just some common drugs used for Immunological conditions such as Crohn's and colitis. Any feedback anyone has on any of these is welcome. Otherwise, these are just notes for me or whomever cares:

Salofalk
5-aminosalicylic acid, or mesalamine, belongs to the group of medications known as anti-inflammatories. It is used to treat mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis and mild-to-moderate Crohn's disease. 5-aminosalicylic acid (or 5-ASA) acts by reducing inflammation in the bowel.
side effects
* abdominal or stomach cramps or pain (mild)
* acne
* back or joint pain
* diarrhea (mild)
* dizziness
* gas
* headache (mild)
* heartburn or indigestion
* loss of appetite
* loss of hair
* nausea or vomiting

Imuran
Azathioprine is a purine synthesis inhibitor, inhibiting the proliferation of cells, especially leukocytes. It is an effective drug used alone in certain autoimmune diseases, or in combination with other immunosuppressants in organ transplantation.
side effects
Side-effects are uncommon, but include nausea, fatigue, hair loss, and rash. Because azathioprine suppresses the bone marrow, patients will be more susceptible to infection. IMURAN can cause fetal harm when given to a pregnant woman. It is listed as a human carcinogen.

entocort
Budesonide is a glucocorticoid steroid. It has efficacy in the terminal ileum and the right colon.
side effects
* nose irritation or burning
* bleeding or sores in the nose
* lightheadedness
* upset stomach
* cough
* hoarseness
* dry mouth
* rash
* sore throat
* bad taste in mouth
* change in mucus color

Remicade
Infliximab targets TNF, it is in the class of immunosuppressants, thought to be more related to Th1 cytokines. Ulcerative colitis was thought to be a Th2 disease, and Infliximab of limited use. However, patients with ulcerative colitis have begun to be treated with infliximab on the basis of two large clinical trials conducted in 2005 by Paul Rutgeerts and William Sandborn. The ACT 1 and ACT 2 (Acute ulcerative Colitis Treatment) trials evaluated the utility of infliximab in ulcerative colitis and showed that 44-45% of patients treated with infliximab for a year maintained a response to the medication, compared with 21% of patients who were treated with placebo medication. At 2 months, the response was 61-69% for patients treated with infliximab, and 31% for those who were treated with placebo.
side effects: serious infection

Paxil
Paroxetine (trade names Seroxat, Paxil) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. Unlike two other popular SSRI antidepressants, fluoxetine and sertraline, paroxetine is associated with clinically significant weight gain. Due to the increased risk of birth defects, pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant are recommended to avoid or discontinue paroxetine use. Prozac is safer, no weight gain, and better if trying to conceive.
