Diabetes Gastroporesis?

My cousin is having a tough go with life at the moment, in a lot of pain on the right flank that starts around the stomach and radiates to his right kidney, modern medical imaging can find nothing, yet the pain is there.  They have found that his diabetes (at age 22) is already paralyzing his stomach causing great difficulty in keeping food down.  Some days he can eat and but it will come up in the next 18 hours, other days there is no appetite, quite often do to the great intensity of the pain, of which he is taking demerol for, which also makes the nausea worse.

Everyone is worried about the cousin, he is wasting to nothing, and now his parents stressing over him seems to be exaserbating the whole situation.  My mothers energetic healing techniques seemed to make him feel better temporarily, but in all honesty, acupuncture didn't make a dent with the nausea, something it is usually good with alleviating, at least while someone is on the table.

The following is a list of things I thought he should try to do to aid in his healing process:

congee-ginger/American ginseng
lube intestine foods-pg. 346
fish oils-EPA
many small/partially digested meals
arnica-----cabdominal massage-shiatsu/mayan
thoracic&lumbar/sacral hua tou acu tx(&traditional)
Chinese medicinals
exercise- weight bearing
deep breathing/qugong
back to having fun
balance glycemic food intake
chromium-100-300/day
foods cooked/partially digested
probiotics/digestive enzymes
visualization/meditation
positive affirmations
