A Cataract is the progressive clouding over or impairing  of vision in a specific area of the eye.   It is a painless condition where one slowly looses there vision. Light entering the eye is blocked, distorted or diffused.

 

Traditional Chinese Medicine Differentiation of Cataracts:

Wind Heat

Herbal Formula: Yin Qiao San

 

Toxic Heat - Swelling Discomfort

Herbal Formula: Huang Lian Jie Du Tang

Liver Heat

Herbal Formula: Long Dan Xie Gan Tang

Kidney Yin Deficiency -

Recovery Herbal Formula: Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan or Qi Ju Di Huang Wan

 

Phlegm Dampness - Excessive Tearing

Herbal Formula: San Ren Tang

  

Suppurative Cataracts

- severe acute pusy eye infection with pain radiating to the forehead, excessive tearing with green/yellow/white discharge

 

Early Stage Suppurative Cataracts:  

Herbal Formula: Huang Lian Jie Du Tang

 

Late Stage Suppurative Cataracts:  

Herbal Formula: Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (cool blood, discharge pus - San Qi, Tao Ren, Hong Hua)
