Things You Didnt Know, TCM Style

All about things you didnt know (or may already know), TCM related. As a wise-women once said. "Yeah Acupuncture, Boo Dirt Tea"!

At the risk of creating too much content (yes thats me up in the right hand top corner with a gazillion points already), Ive decided to kick off my own blog.

Since I really dont have that much of my own TCM wisdom to add, Ill attempt to add some intresting tid-bits that I pick up from school. For those of you who don't know me, I am heading into that grey area between my 4th and 5th year of classes at ICTCMV (Vancouver, BC).

Today in clinic I picked up these two pearls of wisdom, (sorry acupuncturess, I am stealing the phrase "Pearls of Wisdom" for my blog too!).

1. Chestnuts for food cures in the case of stubbron chronic diarrhea.... seriously! Personally, I have never heard of this one before, but one of my profs. insists it helps. (cooked of course, not raw).

2. Sugar for an ulcer. My source again is the same prof. According to her, in the past honey was often used, however modern research has been done on sugar for the treatment for open wound ulcers. It works as an anti-bacterial (has anyone ever seen contaimated sugar?), and helps absorb the excess fluid from an ulcer and reduce swelling. This prof after reading the research and checking with her fellow doctors applied this treatment with excellent success.

Blog Disclaimer: before you try any of these "pearls of wisdom" make sure you check into it yourself! If you have anything to add, i'd love to hear about it!
