Deadman Seminar Stoke, CPPS, Van Meet Up!
Things You Didnt Know, TCM Style

Ive got Deadman seminar stoke! Next week Peter Deadman is here in Vancouver. (www.pro-d.ca). And I am excited. My field of interest is andrology, but educational focus has been more gynecology. It really feels like not enough men come in for "Men's Issues" compaired to women, making it difficult to run a practice with that specialty in mind.
I am very gratefull that Peter is coming to town to talk about mens issues. I really hope this helps to bring some awareness.
I was wondering if anyone out in CMT land has a practice geared towards mens health specifically? And if so, what tips could they give new practitioners in the field? Especially around the topic of advertising to men, or how you bring your cliental in. I know there are so many guys out there with mens issue, but often just bite the bullet because they think there are alone.
One issue I would to quickly highlight is CPPS. Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome. I am very intrested in hearing what Peter has to say about this.
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS) occurs both in men in women (however, some sources only use it for men or women exclusively). The BMJ (www.bmj.com) says "A syndrome in men, characterised by chronic perineal and penile pain with varying degrees of urinary and sexual dysfunction, is generally recognised without difficulty by clinicians and often labelled chronic prostatitis"
The classifications of Protate problems are still under review by bodies such as the NIH. This makes making a true diagnosis even harder. CPPS was/ is commonly refered to as Chronic non-bacterial prostatitis by the majority of urologist who are not familar with CPPS (which is the majority). However, there is no proven connection to the prostate other than a similarity of symptoms to Acute bacterial prostatitis or BPH (an englarged prostate). In the case of CPPS, there is no englargement of the prostate compaired to BPH.
As for how many men (or women) suffer from CPPS? It is difficult to say, as classification of this condition is fuzzy at best. Two urologist friends of mine both agreed that CPPS made up roughly 1/2 of all male cases in there own clinics. One potential problem with the term "CPPS", is that it is/may become another junk diagnosis such as IBS, when no other disease can be diagnosised.
Obviously, CPPS is an area of interest for my practice. I have studied, learned and practiced a few different methods of treatment for CPPS. Physio, Acu, Herbs, Tigger Point, Massage, Shiatsu and others. My success rates have varied, but I am a very new practitioner.
Again to recap. I am very excited to see Peter Deadman and hear what he has to say.
If anyone else on this board is coming, please respond and let me know. Maybe some people are intrested in going out to dinner on Friday night before or out to talk Saturday night. Vancouver has a great night life and some wonderfull pubs down in gastown.
Sincerely,
Eric Vander Wal
market to their female counterparts

Hi Eric,
I brought Peter in as i think there is a need for additional courses on treating men. I think this can be a beneficial area to focus on as well. You are a head of the curve. And you can brag that you were one of the first docs to specialize in men's health.
We have found at Acubalance that educating their wives/girlfriends works well. Guys tend to not come in on their own but they do when their significant other tells them they have to come in. So work on their wives.
Good luck.
treating men...

I have done a lot of work treating men for mostly reproductive issues and am excited to hear Doctor Deadman give some pearls in this area. As you all know (at least those of you that have worked with men), it is a difficult demographic. Just to get them to come for regular treatments can be a chore!
Course Room

I hear these things sell out fast. But sometimes there is a seat or two left. It is being promoted by www.pro-d.ca Its right out here on broadway and cambie I believe (forgot to check.
How can you miss a chance to see Peter Deadman talk?
Peter Deadman - Mens Health Seminar

Just got back from this seminar
Peter was a great speaker !! He really explained the Western side of things well for us and gave us basic, easy to follow and easy to modify acupuncture formulas for each pattern under each Mens Health Disorder !
Super happy with the course

Deadman
I wonder if there is still room for his course. I have been to Vancouver and it is beautiful. I am surprise i did not hear about him coming being that he is famous and he does not make to the States very often.
As for treating men... tough market to crack. Good luck. Hopefully Deadman has some good tips because it really is an untapped market that would be great to be able to treat.
