Anorexia - Yan Shu

Anorexia is a chronic lack of appetite with a dislike of eating (1-6years of age)

 

Differentiate Anorexia with:

Food Retention - more belching, irregular BM and Bloating

Zhu Sha - dislike of food during hot and damp summer

 

Chinese Medicine Treatment and Patterns of Anorexia

Spleen and Stomach Disharmony - poor appetite with possible bloating after a forced eating with no other major symptoms.

Herbal Formula: Tiao Pi San

 

Spleen And Stomach Qi Deficiency - yellow dull complexion, soft stool, fatigue

Herbal Formula:Shen Ling Bai Zhu San With Sweating

- Huang Qi, Fang Feng With Greasy Tongue Coating

- Cang Zhu With Bloating

- (-Gan Cao) + regulating Qi herbs (ie-Mu Xiong, Xiang Fu) With Soft Stool

- Wei Jiang (roasted ginger), Rou Dou Kou

 

Stomach Yin Deficiency - dry mouth, scanty tongue coating, dry stool, thirsty

Herbal Formula:Yang Wei Zheng Ye Tang
